You Call Me Righteous
Scripture:
“However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.” — Romans 4:5
Devotion:
We live in a world that constantly measures worth by performance. Do more. Be better. Try harder. Even in our faith, it’s easy to slip into the mindset that God’s approval has to be earned.
But Romans 4:5 flips that idea upside down.
God doesn’t justify the perfect—He justifies the ungodly. Not the ones who have it all together, but the ones who come honestly, empty-handed, and trusting Him.
That’s the heartbeat of You Call Me Righteous.
The song reminds us that righteousness isn’t a reward for effort—it’s a gift received by faith. You don’t achieve it. You receive it.
That means your standing with God today isn’t based on how well you performed yesterday. It’s based on whether you trust Him.
If you’ve been striving, stressing, or feeling like you’re falling short, this is your invitation to rest.
God isn’t asking you to prove yourself—He’s asking you to believe Him.
When you put your faith in Him, He calls you righteous. Not because of what you’ve done, but because of what He has done.
Reflection:
Where have you been trying to earn what God is already offering you freely?
Prayer:
God, I lay down my striving today. I stop trying to earn what You’ve already given. Teach me to trust You more deeply. Help me live from the truth that You call me righteous—not because of my works, but because I believe You. Amen.
