Worth Everything

Devotion:

Worth Everything

Scripture: Matthew 13:44
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”

There’s something striking about this parable—the man doesn’t hesitate.

He doesn’t negotiate.
He doesn’t weigh pros and cons.
He doesn’t delay.

He sees the treasure, and with joy, he gives up everything to have it.

That detail matters: with joy.

Following Jesus is often framed as sacrifice—and it is—but this parable reframes it. It’s not just about what you lose… it’s about what you’ve found.

When you truly see Jesus for who He is—His goodness, His love, His kingdom—everything else starts to lose its grip. Things you once clung to don’t feel as valuable anymore. Not because they were all bad, but because they were never meant to compete with Him.

The man in the story didn’t give everything away because he had to.
He did it because he wanted to.

That’s what happens when your heart is captured by something greater.

Maybe today you’re feeling the tension of letting go—of control, comfort, a привычка, a plan, or even a version of your life you thought you needed.

Ask yourself honestly:
Do I really believe Jesus is worth everything?

Because if He is… then surrender isn’t loss.
It’s the exchange of something temporary for something eternal.

Prayer:
Jesus, open my eyes to see You as the treasure You truly are.
Help me release anything I’m holding onto that keeps me from fully following You.
Give me a heart that responds with joy, not fear.
You are worth everything—and I choose You again today. Amen.
