Unashamed

Scripture: Romans 1:16–17

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes… For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last.”

Reflection

The message of the song “Unashamed” echoes the bold declaration found in Romans 1:16–17. The apostle Paul was writing to believers in Rome—a powerful, sophisticated, and often hostile culture. In that environment, openly following Christ could bring ridicule, rejection, or even persecution. Yet Paul declared something radical:

I am not ashamed of the gospel.”

Why? Because the gospel isn’t just a philosophy or a moral teaching. It is the power of God. It changes hearts, restores lives, and brings salvation.

When we sing Unashamed, we are declaring that the gospel is worth standing for. The world may treat faith as outdated or irrelevant, but the truth is that the good news of Jesus is the very thing that transforms lives. The righteousness we could never achieve on our own is given through faith in Christ.

Being unashamed doesn’t mean being loud or aggressive. It means living with quiet confidence in what Jesus has done. It means loving openly, speaking truth with grace, and refusing to hide the hope we carry.

Every time we choose faith over fear, kindness over cynicism, and truth over silence, we are living out the message of this passage.

The gospel is not something to hide.
It is something to live.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the power of the gospel. Forgive me for the moments when fear or pressure causes me to stay silent about my faith. Fill me with courage to live unashamed of the good news of Jesus. Let my life reflect the righteousness that comes through faith, and help me share Your hope with love and confidence.
Amen.
