The Father Of Lies

Devotion – The Father Of Lies

Scripture

John 8:44
"He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him... for he is a liar and the father of lies."

Devotional Thought

One of the enemy's greatest weapons isn't force—it's deception.

He whispers lies like:

"You're not good enough."

"God has forgotten you."

"You'll never change."

"There's no hope for your future."

The problem with lies is that they often sound believable when repeated long enough. That's why Jesus pointed directly to Satan as the father of lies. His goal has always been to distort truth and separate people from God.

But Jesus came to do the exact opposite.

Where the enemy brings confusion, Jesus brings clarity.

Where the enemy brings condemnation, Jesus brings grace.

Where the enemy brings fear, Jesus brings peace.

The key to overcoming lies is not simply trying harder—it's filling our hearts with God's truth. Every promise in Scripture becomes a weapon against deception. Every verse reminds us who God is and who we are in Christ.

Today, ask yourself:

What lie have I been believing that God's Word has already answered?

Then replace that lie with truth.

Because the enemy's lies may be loud, but God's truth is stronger.

Prayer

Father, thank You for being the God of truth. Help me recognize every lie that tries to pull me away from You. Fill my mind with Your Word and strengthen my faith to stand firm against deception. When fear, doubt, or shame try to take root, remind me of who I am in Christ. Let Your truth guide my thoughts, my words, and my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Truth defeats lies. Light overcomes darkness. Jesus is still the Truth that sets us free.
