Stayin’ Awake
Acts 20:31 shows a powerful image: Paul warning and encouraging believers night and day with tears. That’s not casual faith—that’s deep, intentional, alert living.
To “stay awake” isn’t about anxiety or striving harder. It’s about awareness. It’s about recognizing that God is constantly speaking, leading, and shaping us—even in the small, quiet moments we often overlook.
Spiritual sleep doesn’t usually happen all at once. It’s gradual—distraction, compromise, noise. But staying awake means choosing to remain sensitive to God’s voice.
It means:
Guarding your heart
Paying attention to conviction
Valuing truth over comfort
Responding when God nudges
And here’s the heart behind it—Paul didn’t warn people out of anger, but with tears. That’s the same love God has for you. His call to stay awake isn’t pressure—it’s protection.
He’s not trying to control you.
He’s trying to keep you close.
Prayer
God,
Help me stay awake to Your voice.
In the middle of noise, distractions, and routine—tune my heart to You.
Give me awareness when I start to drift.
Give me courage to respond when You speak.
And give me a love for truth that outweighs comfort.
Keep my spirit alert, not out of fear, but out of love for You.
Let my life reflect a constant readiness to follow wherever You lead.
I don’t want to miss what You’re doing.
So I choose today to stay awake.
Amen.
