Peace Like A River
Scripture:
Isaiah 66:12–14 – “For this is what the Lord says: ‘I will extend peace to her like a river… As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.’”
Peace is something people spend their whole lives chasing.
We look for it in success, security, relationships, or control over our circumstances.
But God describes peace differently.
In the Book of Isaiah, God says His peace flows like a river. A river doesn’t struggle to move. It flows continuously, steadily, and powerfully. That’s the kind of peace God offers—constant, not temporary.
Even more beautifully, God compares His comfort to a mother holding her child. When a child is afraid or hurting, the safest place in the world is in a loving parent’s arms. God wants us to experience that same security in His presence.
When life feels overwhelming, God doesn’t ask us to handle it alone. He invites us to rest in Him.
His peace isn’t something you have to earn.
It’s something He freely gives.
When we come to Him in trust, His peace begins to flow through our hearts, calming our fears and reminding us we are never alone.
Today, whatever you’re facing, let God carry you.
His peace is already flowing.
Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for promising peace that flows like a river.
When my heart feels anxious or overwhelmed, remind me that Your comfort is always near.
Help me rest in Your presence and trust Your love to carry me through every situation.
Fill my heart with Your peace today.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
