On The Rock
Key Scripture:
"Everyone then who hears these words of Mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock." — Matthew 7:24
There are two kinds of foundations in life. One shifts with circumstances, opinions, emotions, and success. The other remains steady because it is anchored in Christ.
Jesus never promised a life without storms. In fact, He said that rain would fall, floods would come, and winds would beat against every house. The difference wasn't the weather—it was the foundation.
It's easy to feel secure when life is calm. A steady paycheck, good health, supportive relationships, and answered prayers can make us believe we're standing on solid ground. But foundations are rarely tested on sunny days. They prove their strength when everything around us begins to shake.
Jesus invites us to build differently.
Building on the Rock means more than believing Jesus exists. It means trusting His Word enough to obey it. It means forgiving when it's difficult, loving when it's costly, serving when no one notices, and continuing to hope even when the outcome is uncertain.
Faith isn't built in a single dramatic moment. It's built one decision at a time.
Every prayer offered in faith is another stone laid on the foundation.
Every act of obedience strengthens the structure.
Every moment spent in God's Word drives the roots deeper.
Over time, your life becomes less controlled by circumstances and more established in God's unchanging character.
The world offers many foundations—success, wealth, popularity, comfort, and personal achievement. They may look impressive for a season, but none can support the weight of eternity.
Only Jesus never changes.
He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
He remains faithful when people disappoint us.
He remains true when feelings fluctuate.
He remains present when life feels lonely.
He remains powerful when our strength is gone.
Whatever storm you're facing today, remember this: the safest place isn't where there are no storms. The safest place is standing on the Rock.
Your circumstances may shake.
Your emotions may rise and fall.
Your plans may change.
But Christ remains.
And if your life is built on Him, you have a foundation that no storm can destroy.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for being my Rock and my firm foundation. When life feels uncertain, remind me that Your promises never fail. Help me not only to hear Your Word but to live it each day. Strengthen my faith through every trial, deepen my trust in You, and make my life a testimony of Your faithfulness. Build in me a heart that stands firm because it rests completely in You.
