My Heart on the Altar

My Heart On The Altar

There are moments when faith stops being something we talk about and becomes something we lay down.

Not just words. Not just songs. But the actual weight of our will.

The altar has always been the place of exchange—where something is surrendered so something better can be received. In the Old Testament, offerings were placed there as an act of trust. But in this song, the offering is not an animal or a sacrifice of ritual. It’s the heart.

Not the polished version. Not the Sunday version. The real one.

The one that holds fear, plans, regrets, control, and unanswered questions.

And the truth is, God is not intimidated by what we bring. He isn’t asking for perfection before the altar—He’s asking for placement. “Put it here. Let Me handle it.”

There’s a quiet strength that comes when we finally stop negotiating with God and start trusting Him. It doesn’t always feel powerful in the moment. Sometimes it feels like letting go. Sometimes it feels like loss. But in the kingdom of God, surrender is never the end—it’s the beginning of transformation.

Romans 12:1 calls us to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice. That means the altar isn’t a one-time event. It becomes a posture. A daily return. A steady “yes” even when we don’t see the outcome.

And here’s the mystery: what we place on the altar doesn’t disappear—it gets redeemed.

God doesn’t waste surrendered things.

So today, the invitation is simple but honest:

What are you still carrying that was meant to be placed on the altar?

Because peace doesn’t come from holding everything together.
It comes from trusting the One who holds you.

And when the heart is finally laid down…
it’s not destroyed.

It’s made whole.
