Joy Is My Strength

Devotion — Joy Is My Strength

Scripture: Nehemiah 8:10

"Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength."

Joy is one of the greatest gifts God gives His people, yet it is often misunderstood. Biblical joy is not based on comfort, success, or favorable circumstances. It is rooted in the unchanging character of God.

When Nehemiah spoke these words, the people had just heard God's Law and were overwhelmed by their own shortcomings. They wept, but Nehemiah reminded them that God's desire was not for them to remain in despair. His grace invited them into joy—a joy that would give them strength to continue walking with Him.

Life will bring trials, disappointments, and seasons of uncertainty. Yet God's joy remains available because His promises never fail. When we remember His faithfulness, rejoice in His salvation, and trust His plans, our hearts find strength that circumstances cannot steal.

Real joy is found in knowing Christ, resting in His promises, and walking daily with Him. That joy becomes courage for today and hope for tomorrow.

Prayer

Father, thank You that my strength does not depend on my own abilities or circumstances. Fill my heart with the joy that comes from knowing You. Help me trust You through every season and reflect Your joy to those around me. May my life point others to Jesus, whose joy gives lasting hope and enduring strength. In His precious name, Amen.
