It Is Finished

Devotion – "It Is Finished"

Scripture

"When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, 'It is finished.' Then bowing His head, He gave up His spirit."
John 19:30

Three words.

Three words that changed the destiny of everyone who would believe.

When Jesus said, "It is finished," He wasn't saying His strength had run out. He was declaring that His mission was complete. Every prophecy concerning His sacrifice had been fulfilled. Every requirement of God's justice had been satisfied. The price for sin had been paid in full.

So many of us live as though we still have to earn God's approval. We strive harder, carry guilt longer, and wonder if we've done enough.

The cross answers every one of those fears.

Jesus did enough.

His sacrifice is complete. His mercy is sufficient. His grace is available today.

Because the work is finished, we are free to stop trying to save ourselves and begin living in gratitude, obedience, and worship.

The empty tomb proves that the finished work of the cross was accepted by the Father.

Today, if you're carrying shame, failure, or regret, bring it to Jesus. Leave it at the cross. The debt has already been paid.

Rest in His finished work.

Prayer

Lord Jesus,

Thank You for completing the work that I could never accomplish on my own. Thank You for bearing my sin, paying my debt, and opening the way for me to know the Father.

Help me to stop living as though I must earn what You have already freely given. Fill my heart with gratitude, humility, and joyful obedience. Let my life reflect the victory You won on the cross.

Teach me to walk every day in the freedom, peace, and hope that come from Your finished work.

In Your holy name I pray,
Amen.
