Devotion - Is It Lawful To Love
Scripture - Luke 14: 1-6
There were moments in Scripture when the law stood in front of suffering… and Jesus chose love.
He healed on the Sabbath.
He touched the untouchable.
He welcomed the ones religion pushed away.
And every time, it raised the same question from the watching world: “Is it lawful?”
But Jesus was not dismantling God’s law—He was revealing its heart. Because God’s law was never meant to suppress love… it was always meant to perfect it.
When love is real, it does not ignore truth.
But it also does not delay compassion.
Maybe today you feel caught in the tension—between what people expect and what love is calling you to do. This is where Jesus still speaks: not with condemnation, but with invitation.
“To love like I love you.”
Prayer:
Lord,
teach me the kind of love that fulfills Your heart.
Where I have been judgmental, soften me.
Where I have been afraid to show compassion, strengthen me.
Let my life reflect not just rules, but Your mercy in action.
