Devotion – Holy City, Coming Down
Holy City, Coming Down
Scripture
"I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband."
— Revelation 21:2
There are moments when this world feels heavy. We see brokenness, loss, injustice, and suffering all around us. It's easy to wonder if things will ever truly be made right.
Then God gives us a glimpse of the future.
The Bible ends not with uncertainty, but with hope. The apostle John saw the Holy City coming down from heaven—a place prepared by God Himself. In that city there will be no death, no mourning, no crying, and no pain. God's presence will fill everything, and His people will live with Him forever.
This promise isn't wishful thinking. It's the sure destination for everyone who belongs to Christ.
As followers of Jesus, we aren't just waiting for heaven—we're waiting for the fulfillment of God's perfect kingdom. That hope gives us strength to endure today, courage to remain faithful, and peace that nothing in this world can take away.
When life feels uncertain, remember where your true home is.
The Holy City is coming.
And the King is faithful to every promise He has made.
Prayer
Father,
Thank You for preparing an eternal home for everyone who trusts in You. When life becomes difficult, lift my eyes beyond today's struggles and remind me of the glorious future You have promised.
Help me to live each day with hope, faith, and expectation, knowing that You are making all things new. Keep my heart fixed on Jesus until the day I see You face to face.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
