Fruit on the Tree
Scripture: Epistle to the Galatians 5:25
“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
A healthy tree doesn’t struggle to produce fruit. It simply grows, rooted in good soil, receiving sunlight and water. In time, fruit naturally appears on its branches.
Our lives in Christ work the same way.
In Galatians 5, the apostle Paul the Apostle teaches that when we live by the Spirit, the Spirit produces fruit in us. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control aren’t things we manufacture through sheer effort—they grow as a result of walking with God.
That’s the heart behind the song “Fruit on the Tree.”
A branch doesn’t strain to bear fruit. It stays connected to the tree. In the same way, our calling isn’t to force spiritual fruit, but to stay connected to Christ and keep in step with the Holy Spirit.
When we walk closely with God day by day—praying, listening, trusting, obeying—His character begins to show in our lives. People around us start to see the fruit.
Kindness in hard moments.
Patience when life is frustrating.
Peace when everything else feels chaotic.
That fruit becomes living evidence that God is at work in us.
So today, don’t focus first on producing fruit. Focus on walking with the Spirit. Stay rooted in Christ. The fruit will grow naturally on the tree of a life surrendered to Him.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for giving me Your Spirit. Teach me to walk in step with You today. Grow Your fruit in my life so that others can see Your love, peace, and grace through me. Help me stay rooted in You, trusting that You will produce the fruit in Your perfect time. Amen.
