For Love Alone

Devotion – For Love Alone

Scripture

"We love because He first loved us."
—1 John 4:19

There is a subtle trap many believers fall into.

We begin following Jesus because of His grace, but over time we can start believing our relationship with God depends on our performance. We think if we pray more, read more, serve more, then maybe God will love us more.

But the Gospel says the opposite.

God's love came first.

Before you ever prayed...
Before you ever obeyed...
Before you ever got your life together...

Jesus loved you enough to lay down His life for you.

That changes everything.

Our worship is no longer an obligation—it becomes gratitude.

Our obedience is no longer driven by fear—it is inspired by love.

Our service is no longer about earning heaven—it is about honoring the One who already gave us everything.

When love is your motivation, faith becomes joyful instead of burdensome.

Today, don't strive to earn what Christ has already freely given.

Simply rest in His love—and let everything you do flow from that place.

Prayer

Father,

Thank You for loving me long before I knew how to love You.

Forgive me for the times I've tried to earn what You have already given through Your grace.

Teach me to worship You with a grateful heart, to obey You because I love You, and to live each day as a response to the incredible gift of Jesus Christ.

May everything I do bring You glory—not out of obligation, but for love alone.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
