First and Final (He Holds It All Together)

Scripture: Colossians 1:17
“He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”

We live in a world that constantly feels like it’s coming apart.

Plans fall through.
People disappoint us.
Circumstances shift without warning.

And if we’re honest, sometimes our own hearts feel like they’re unraveling.

But Colossians 1:15–20 gives us a bigger picture—a truer reality.

Jesus is not distant.
He is not reacting.
He is not trying to catch up.

He is before all things.
And right now—He is holding all things together.

That includes the universe… and it includes you.

The same Jesus who spoke galaxies into existence is the One sustaining your life in this very moment. Every breath you take, every step you walk, every unseen detail—held together by Him.

And it doesn’t stop there.

Verse 20 tells us that through the cross, He made peace.
That means the One who holds everything together also stepped into our brokenness to restore what was falling apart.

So when your life feels unstable, don’t just look at the pieces.

Look to the One holding them.

You may not understand everything…
But you can trust the One who does.

Reflection:
What feels like it’s “falling apart” in your life right now? Can you surrender that to Jesus today?

Prayer:
Jesus, You are before all things, and You hold all things together.
Right now, I give You what feels broken, uncertain, and out of control.
Remind me that You are not shaken. You are not worried.
You are faithful.
Help me trust You more today.
Amen.
