Fall to Rise
Scripture: John 12:24
Jesus said, “Very truly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.”
Jesus used a simple picture everyone in His time understood: a seed.
A seed looks small, lifeless, and insignificant. But something powerful happens when it falls into the soil. It disappears. It breaks open. What once looked whole is surrendered to the darkness of the ground.
Yet that breaking is not the end — it’s the beginning.
Jesus was speaking about His own death, but He was also revealing a spiritual pattern for every believer: God brings life through surrender.
In our lives, we often resist the “falling.” We want growth without surrender, fruit without sacrifice, resurrection without the cross. But Jesus teaches that the pathway to real life often looks like letting go.
When pride falls, humility grows.
When control falls, trust grows.
When selfish ambition falls, God’s purpose rises.
The seed must fall before it can rise.
The beautiful truth behind this song “Fall to Rise” is that nothing surrendered to God is wasted. What looks like loss in our hands becomes multiplication in His.
The cross looked like defeat on Friday.
But Sunday proved it was the doorway to life.
And the same God who brought resurrection from the grave can bring new life from the places where we feel buried.
Sometimes God allows the falling because He is preparing the rising.
Reflection
Is there something in your life God is asking you to release or surrender today? A fear, a plan, a hurt, or a piece of your identity you’ve been holding onto?
The seed must fall into the ground — but it never stays there.
God specializes in resurrection.
Prayer
Lord,
Sometimes surrender feels like loss, and falling feels like failure. But Your Word reminds me that life grows from places that look buried. Help me trust You enough to let go of what I’m holding onto. Take the things in my life that need to fall, and bring new life from them. I believe that what is surrendered to You will rise in ways I cannot yet see.
