Devotional Thought

The writer of Hebrews compares the Christian life to a race. Anyone who has run a race knows that constantly looking behind you, beside you, or at the obstacles around you will slow you down. The key is to stay focused on the finish line.

Spiritually, our finish line is not a destination—it is a Person.

Jesus is both the Author and Finisher of our faith. He started the work in us, and He promises to complete it. The same Savior who called you is the Savior who will sustain you.

The enemy wants your attention fixed on fear, disappointment, uncertainty, and the opinions of others. Jesus calls us to lift our eyes higher.

When Peter walked on water, he was fine while his eyes were on Jesus. The moment he focused on the wind and waves, he began to sink. The lesson is clear: what captures our attention often determines our direction.

No matter what you're facing today—a health battle, financial pressure, family struggles, grief, or uncertainty—the answer is not found in staring at the storm. The answer is found in fixing your eyes on the Savior who stands above it.

The storm may still rage, but peace comes when our focus remains on Him.

Prayer

Lord Jesus,

Today I choose to fix my eyes on You. When distractions come, help me focus on Your promises. When fear tries to overwhelm me, remind me that You are faithful. Thank You for being the Author and Finisher of my faith. Give me strength to keep running the race You have set before me, trusting that You will lead me all the way home.
