Don’t Break Their Heart

Scripture: Colossians 3:21
“Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.”

There’s more power in your words than you realize.

Colossians 3:21 is a direct and honest reminder: harshness doesn’t produce strength—it produces discouragement. When correction turns into constant criticism, hearts begin to shut down.

This doesn’t just apply to parenting. It applies to anyone we influence—family, friends, coworkers, people who look to us for guidance.

God’s leadership style is different.

He corrects, but He also restores.
He convicts, but He never crushes.
He speaks truth, but always through love.

Think about how God deals with you. Even in your mistakes, He draws you closer instead of pushing you away. That’s the model.

Today, ask yourself:

Are my words building confidence or breaking it?

Am I leading with love or frustration?

Do people feel safe growing around me?

You don’t have to be perfect—but you can be intentional.

A gentle word can change someone’s entire direction.
A moment of patience can keep someone from giving up.

Let your voice reflect God’s heart.

Prayer:
Lord, teach me to speak life.
Help me to lead with grace, not control.
Guard my words so they build, not break.
Make my life a reflection of Your love.
Amen.
