Daily Bread
Matthew 6:11
“Give us this day our daily bread.”
Devotion
In the middle of the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus teaches us to ask for something simple: bread.
Not next year’s bread.
Not a lifetime supply.
Daily bread.
God invites us into daily dependence. Every sunrise is an opportunity to trust Him again. Every need — physical, emotional, spiritual — is an invitation to ask.
“Give us” reminds us we are not self-sufficient.
“This day” keeps us present.
“Daily bread” teaches us that what we truly need comes from the Father’s hand.
Bread represents provision. It’s the paycheck. The strength to keep going. The peace for today’s stress. The grace for today’s temptation. The wisdom for today’s decisions.
God does not promise tomorrow’s grace today — but He always provides enough for this day.
When we pray for daily bread, we’re declaring:
Father, You are my source.
Not my job. Not my plans. Not my control.
You.
And just as He fed Israel manna one day at a time, He still provides faithfully — one day at a time.
Trust Him for today.
Prayer
Father,
You are my Provider.
Teach me to depend on You daily.
Forgive me for worrying about tomorrow when You have promised provision for today.
Give me what I need — strength, wisdom, peace, and courage — for this day.
Help me trust that Your hand is enough.
Thank You for being faithful again and again.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
