Come Quickly, God

Scripture: “Hurry, God, to save me! Come quickly, Lord, to help me! May those who want to take my life be disgraced and utterly put to shame. May those who delight in my misfortune be turned back in utter disgrace. May those who say, ‘Aha, Aha!’ be appalled at their own shame. But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. May those who love your salvation always say, ‘God is great!’ But I am poor and needy. Come quickly to me, O God. You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay!” (Psalm 70:1-5, NLT)

Reflection:
Life can feel heavy. Sometimes the weight of fear, injustice, or struggle presses down on us, and we long for rescue. The song Come Quickly God echoes the heartfelt urgency of David in this psalm—a cry for God’s swift intervention. It reminds us that it’s okay to come before God honestly, with urgency, acknowledging our need for His help.

Notice the balance in this passage: while David expresses his urgency, he also declares trust in God’s character. Even in desperation, he turns to God as his help and deliverer. The song channels that same raw honesty—calling out to God to move, to save, to intervene—while anchoring our hope in His faithfulness.

When you sing or meditate on Come Quickly God, let it not just be a plea, but also a declaration: God is our refuge, and even when the world seems overwhelming, He is near.

Prayer:
Lord, I come to You today with urgency and need. My heart longs for Your presence, Your help, and Your deliverance. Come quickly, God, and rescue me from my struggles. Let Your strength be my shield, and Your joy lift my spirit. I trust in Your unfailing love and rejoice in Your salvation. Amen.

Action Step:
Write down one area of your life where you are feeling urgency or pressure. Take a moment to pray the words of Psalm 70 over it, asking God to come quickly and intervene, then trust Him to act in His perfect timing.
