Clean My Heart
Scripture: Matthew 15:10–20
In this passage, Jesus gathers the crowd and explains something that challenged the religious thinking of His day. People were very concerned with outward purity—what they ate, what they touched, and how well they followed religious rules. But Jesus shifted the focus completely.
He said the real issue isn’t what goes into a person. The real issue is what comes out.
Words, attitudes, and actions all flow from the heart. Anger, pride, deceit, and bitterness don’t appear out of nowhere—they grow from places deep inside us. Jesus wasn’t condemning people; He was revealing the truth that transformation has to begin within.
It’s easy to focus on appearances. We try to look good, act right, and keep things together on the outside. But God sees deeper than anyone else ever could. He sees our motives, our struggles, and the hidden places we often ignore.
The beautiful part of this truth is that Jesus doesn’t just expose the heart—He heals it. God doesn’t want surface-level change. He wants to renew us from the inside out. When we invite Him into those hidden places, His grace begins the real work of transformation.
The prayer of a believer is not simply, “Help me look better,” but rather, “Lord, change my heart.”
And when He does, everything else begins to follow.

Prayer
Lord,
You see every part of me, even the places I try to hide.
You know my thoughts, my motives, and the condition of my heart.
Forgive me for the times I focus more on appearances than true transformation. Cleanse the places in my heart where pride, anger, fear, or selfishness have taken root.
Create in me a heart that reflects Your love and truth. Change me from the inside out so that my words and actions bring honor to You.
Thank You for Your mercy that reaches deeper than my failures and Your grace that makes all things new.
Today I surrender my heart to You.
Clean it, renew it, and lead me in Your ways.
