Called Yours
đź“– John 3:1

“There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.”

In Gospel of John 3:1, we’re introduced to Nicodemus — respected, religious, educated, influential. A man who knew Scripture. A man who had position. A man who had reputation.

And yet… he came to Jesus at night.

Something inside him knew that knowledge wasn’t enough. Status wasn’t enough. Religion wasn’t enough. He wanted something real. He wanted new life.

Your song Called Yours echoes that same longing. It’s the cry of someone who realizes that being informed about God is not the same as belonging to God.

Nicodemus had a title — “ruler of the Jews.”
But what he truly needed was a new identity.

Later in the chapter, Jesus tells him he must be born again. Not upgraded. Not improved. Born again.

That’s what being “Called Yours” really means.

It’s not just believing facts about Jesus.
It’s not just attending religious gatherings.
It’s being made new from the inside out — adopted, renamed, reborn.

We can relate to Nicodemus more than we realize. We can build lives on experience, ministry, influence, or spiritual knowledge — and still sense a quiet ache at night that says, There has to be more.

And there is.

To be called His is to step out of the shadows and into relationship. It’s moving from “religious” to redeemed. From curious to committed. From observer to child.

You are not defined by your resume, your past, your doubts, or your questions.

When you come to Jesus honestly — even if it’s in the quiet of night — He doesn’t shame you. He invites you.

He calls you His.

And when He calls you His, everything changes.

Reflection Questions

Am I relying on knowledge about God, or am I living in relationship with Him?

What part of my life still feels like it’s “in the night”?

What would it look like to fully step into being called His?

Prayer

Father,
I don’t want to just know about You — I want to belong to You. Search my heart and show me where I’m hiding in the shadows. Give me courage like Nicodemus to come honestly before You. Make me new from the inside out. Let my identity not be in what I’ve achieved or learned, but in the fact that I am Yours. Thank You for calling me Your own.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
