Call On His Name
Romans 10:9–13
“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved… for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’” — Epistle to the Romans 10:9,13
There is power in a name.
Your song Call On His Name echoes the simplicity and boldness of this promise: salvation is not earned, negotiated, or achieved — it is received. And it is received by calling on Him.
Paul writes to the believers in Rome with stunning clarity. The way to life is not hidden behind ritual or reserved for the elite. It is as near as your mouth and as close as your heart. Confess. Believe. Call. That’s it.
To confess “Jesus is Lord” is more than saying words — it is surrender. It is declaring that He has authority over your sin, your fear, your future, and your failures. To believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead is to trust that death has been defeated and hope is alive.
And then comes the promise that fuels the chorus of your song:
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Not the perfect.
Not the polished.
Not the religious elite.
Everyone.
That means the prodigal.
The weary worship leader.
The doubter.
The desperate.
The one who feels too far gone.
When we call on His name, heaven responds.
Calling on His name is an act of humility. It admits, “I can’t save myself.” It is also an act of faith: “You can.”
Maybe today you don’t need a theological debate. You need a lifeline. Romans 10 reminds us that salvation begins with a cry. The name of Jesus is not a last resort — it is our first and only hope.
Your song becomes an invitation:
When shame whispers, call on His name.
When fear tightens its grip, call on His name.
When joy overflows, call on His name.
When you feel nothing at all, call on His name.
The same name that conquered the grave still saves today.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
I confess that You are Lord. I believe You are risen and alive. I cannot save myself, but You can. Today I call on Your name — over my life, my family, my fears, and my future. Let Your salvation not just rescue me, but transform me. Fill my mouth with bold confession and my heart with unwavering faith.
In Your powerful name,
Amen.
