Bread of Life, Cup of Grace
đź“– John 6:35

In Gospel of John 6:35, Jesus declares:

“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst.”

These words aren’t poetic exaggeration. They are a promise.

When we sing Bread of Life, Cup of Grace, we aren’t just remembering communion — we are responding to an invitation. Jesus doesn’t offer temporary relief. He offers Himself.

The world feeds us noise, ambition, comparison, success, and distraction. Yet even when we “have it all,” something still feels empty. That hunger isn’t accidental — it was designed to lead us back to Him.

Jesus says, Come to Me.
Not to religion.
Not to performance.
Not to perfection.
To Him.

He is the Bread that satisfies the soul’s deepest ache. He is the Cup of Grace poured out — not because we earned it, but because He loves us.

Every time we take communion, we remember:

His body broken so we could be made whole.

His blood poured out so we could be forgiven.

His grace flowing so we would never thirst again.

But communion isn’t just a moment in a service. It’s a daily dependence.

Today, come hungry.
Come thirsty.
Come aware that only Jesus can fill what the world cannot.

And as you worship, let this truth settle deep in your heart:
You are invited to the table. Not as a guest earning your seat — but as a child welcomed home.

Prayer

Lord Jesus,
You are the Bread of Life and the Cup of Grace. I confess that I often look to other things to satisfy me — success, approval, comfort — but none of it truly fills me. Today I come back to You. Feed my soul. Satisfy my heart. Remind me that Your grace is enough and Your presence is life. Teach me to depend on You daily, not just in moments of need. Thank You for inviting me to Your table.
Amen.
