Alive In You
📖 Epistle to the Ephesians 2:1–5
"As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins… But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved." (Ephesians 2:1,4–5)
There is a powerful contrast in this passage: dead… but now alive.
Before Christ, Paul doesn’t soften the language. He doesn’t say we were struggling, wandering, or slightly off track. He says we were dead in sin. Spiritually lifeless. Unable to revive ourselves. No pulse of righteousness. No breath of hope.
Then comes one of the most beautiful phrases in Scripture: “But because of His great love…”
Our song Alive In You echoes this miracle. We didn’t climb our way back to God. We didn’t earn resuscitation through effort. God, rich in mercy, stepped into our grave and called us out. The same voice that called Lazarus from the tomb now calls our hearts to life.
We are not self-improved versions of who we used to be. We are resurrected people.
When you sing, “I’m alive in You,” you’re declaring:
My past doesn’t define me.
My failures don’t own me.
My sin doesn’t have the final word.
Grace does.
Being alive in Christ means His Spirit now breathes in you. His desires begin reshaping yours. His light pushes back darkness. The old nature may try to whisper, but it no longer has authority.
Today, if you feel stuck, distant, or weighed down by yesterday’s mistakes, remember this: resurrection is not a one-time emotional moment. It is a present reality. You are alive right now because of Him.
And alive people don’t live like they’re still in the grave.
Prayer
Father, thank You for loving me when I was spiritually dead. Thank You for being rich in mercy and full of grace. Jesus, thank You for making me alive in You. Help me walk today as someone resurrected—free, forgiven, and filled with Your Spirit. Let my life reflect the miracle You’ve done in my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
