Scripture:
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” — John 15:5
Jesus didn’t say, “Try harder.”
He said, abide.
That word means remain. Stay. Dwell.
Not visit occasionally. Not check in on Sundays.
Live connected.
In Gospel of John, Jesus paints a simple picture:
He is the vine.
We are the branches.
Branches don’t strain to produce fruit.
They stay connected — and fruit happens naturally.
When we disconnect, we dry out.
When we rush ahead in our own strength, we burn out.
When we strive without abiding, we wear out.
But when we remain in Him?
Peace grows.
Patience grows.
Love grows.
Strength grows.
“Abide In You” isn’t just a melody — it’s an invitation.
Slow down. Stay connected. Let your life draw from His life.
You don’t have to manufacture fruit.
You just have to remain.
And what flows from that connection will be more than effort could ever produce.
Prayer:
Jesus, You are the vine and I am the branch. Teach me to stay connected to You in every moment. Keep my heart close, my spirit dependent, and my life rooted in Your presence. Let real fruit grow from real connection. In Your name, amen.
