You Found Me Here
Scripture:
"The angel of the LORD found her by a spring of water in the wilderness..." — Genesis 16:7
God Knows Exactly Where You Are
Genesis 16 introduces us to Hagar, a woman who felt abandoned, mistreated, and completely alone. She fled into the wilderness with no clear destination and no one to help her.
Yet the story doesn't begin with Hagar finding God.
It begins with God finding Hagar.
Those four simple words carry enormous hope: "The angel of the LORD found her."
God wasn't searching because He had lost track of her. He came because He knew exactly where she was and wanted her to know that she had never been outside His care.
Many of us know what the wilderness feels like.
Sometimes it's grief.
Sometimes it's disappointment.
Sometimes it's loneliness, uncertainty, financial pressure, illness, or broken relationships.
The wilderness isn't always a place on a map. Often it's the place our hearts travel when life becomes heavier than we expected.
The beautiful truth is that God doesn't wait for us to climb out before He comes near.
He meets us there.
Hagar was sitting beside a spring—a quiet reminder that even in the desert, God had already prepared refreshment before she arrived. Long before she knew help was coming, the Lord had already made provision.
He asked her two questions:
"Where have you come from?"
"Where are you going?"
Not because He lacked information, but because He wanted Hagar to recognize that her story mattered to Him.
God still asks us questions today—not to gather facts but to draw us into relationship.
He invites us to bring our fears honestly before Him.
He welcomes our tears.
He listens without condemnation.
Most importantly, He reminds us that our identity is not defined by our circumstances but by His love.
The song "You Found Me Here" celebrates this truth. We don't worship a distant God watching from heaven. We worship the Shepherd who comes looking for His sheep, the Father who runs toward His children, and the Savior who steps into our wilderness to lead us home.
Perhaps today you feel overlooked.
Maybe you've wondered whether your prayers have disappeared into silence.
Genesis 16 gives us a different answer.
God sees.
God knows.
God comes near.
He still finds people in deserts.
He still speaks hope into weary hearts.
He still turns places of despair into places of encounter.
Whatever wilderness you are walking through today, remember this:
You are not lost to God.
He knows your name.
He knows your story.
And right where you are...
He will find you there.
Prayer
Father, thank You for seeing me even when I feel invisible. Thank You for meeting me in my wilderness and reminding me that I am never outside of Your love. Help me trust that You know exactly where I am and where You are leading me. Give me faith to keep walking, knowing that Your presence goes before me and Your mercy follows behind me. Thank You for finding me, loving me, and leading me home. In Jesus' name,
Amen.
