Slow To Anger

Daily Devotion

Scripture: Psalm 145:8
“The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.”

We often assume God reacts the way people do.

When we mess up, we expect distance.
When we fail again, we expect frustration.
When we drift, we expect Him to pull away.

But Psalm 145:8 tells a completely different story.

God is gracious.
God is compassionate.
God is slow to anger.

That means He’s not looking for a reason to push you away — He’s looking for every reason to bring you back.

Where we are inconsistent, He is steady.
Where we are impatient, He is kind.
Where we give up easily, He stays.

The truth is, God already knows your worst moments — and still chooses mercy.

That’s what makes His love different.

So instead of running from Him today, come back.
Not cleaned up. Not perfect. Just honest.

Because His posture toward you hasn’t changed.

Reflection:
Where have you been expecting judgment from God instead of mercy?

Prayer:
God, thank You for being patient with me. Thank You for not reacting the way I expect, but loving me better than I deserve. Help me to come back to You quickly, without fear. Remind my heart that You are always gracious, always compassionate, and always full of love. Amen.
