Devotion – Follow Me

Scripture

"Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow Me.'" (Luke 9:23)

Jesus didn't invite people into a comfortable religion—He invited them into a relationship.

When He said, "Follow Me," fishermen left their nets. A tax collector walked away from his booth. Ordinary people trusted an extraordinary Savior without knowing every detail of the journey ahead.

That same invitation still stands today.

Following Jesus doesn't mean we'll always know where He's leading. It means we know the One who is leading us.

Sometimes following Him means forgiving when it's hard. Sometimes it means serving quietly, choosing integrity, or trusting Him through unanswered questions. Every act of obedience is another step closer to His heart.

The wonderful truth is that Jesus never asks us to walk alone. He goes before us, walks beside us, and promises never to leave us. Even when the road is difficult, His presence is enough.

Today, instead of asking God to show you the entire map, simply ask Him for the next faithful step. A life of discipleship is built one obedient "yes" at a time.

Prayer

Lord Jesus,

Thank You for calling me to follow You. Help me to trust You more than my own plans and to walk in obedience even when I don't understand where You're leading. Give me the courage to surrender my fears, my comfort, and my desires so I can live fully for You. Keep my eyes fixed on You, and let my life reflect Your love wherever You lead me.
