BUILT ON THE ROCK

Daily Devotion
Built on the Rock
Scripture: Matthew 7:24–27

Jesus ends His teaching with a powerful picture: two builders, two houses, and one storm. Both hear His words, but only one builds wisely.

The wise builder doesn’t just listen—he acts. He digs deep and builds his house on the rock. When the rain falls, the rivers rise, and the winds beat against that house, it stands firm. Not because the storm was weak, but because the foundation was strong.

The foolish builder hears the same words but does nothing with them. His house sits on sand—easy, quick, and comfortable to build. But when the same storm arrives, everything collapses.

Jesus is showing us something vital about our spiritual lives: storms are not optional. Trials will come. Pressure will rise. Winds will blow. The question isn’t if storms come—it’s what we’re built on.

When our lives are built on opinions, emotions, success, or circumstances, the foundation shifts like sand. But when our lives are anchored in Christ—His words, His truth, His presence—we stand secure even when everything around us shakes.

The song “Built on the Rock” echoes this truth. Our strength is not in our own stability but in the One who never moves. Christ is the solid foundation beneath our faith. When we trust Him, follow Him, and build our lives around His word, we discover a stability the world cannot give.

Today, ask yourself: What am I building my life on?
Every decision, every habit, every act of obedience is another stone laid into the foundation.

Build on Christ. When the storms come—and they will—you will still be standing.

Prayer

Lord,
You are the solid rock beneath my life. Help me not just to hear Your words, but to live them. When storms come and everything around me shakes, keep my heart anchored in You. Teach me to build every part of my life on Your truth. May my faith stand firm because it is rooted in Christ.

Amen.
